Settling In

I am getting used to my new diggs. I really enjoy hangin' around in this swing Aunt Kim & Uncle Pedro got me! The music and lights really help me fall asleep!

Just chillin' on the couch. According to Daddy, this is what we do when there are sporting events on T.V. Come on!!! Where are the car races and baseball games? I am even wearing my WVU socks Grandma & Grandpa gave me waiting for football season. Better come on soon, I am getting sleepy! (Although, I guess that's what I am supposed to do. All Daddy does when watching T.V. is nap, so I must be a quick learner!)

Ever have those conflicting voices in your head telling you what you should do? Do I listen to the bunny or the sheep....?

The bunny won out today. Here I am with my bunny hands trying to hop around on daddy's lap.

I'm Outta Here....

Its been a long time coming, but I FINALLY got to go home with Mommy and Daddy on June 29th. The nurses and staff have been very nice and I will miss having sooo many kind people looking after me on a daily basis.

Now that the nurse has cut off my security sensor and ID tags, I AM OUTTA HERE!!!!

I am dressed and ready to go! Well, maybe after my nap... YAWN!

Come on! Let's blow the popsicle stand! I am strapped in and ready to roll!

Big enough to control my blog!

Many people have wanted to know how big I am. Pictures can be misleading, so they wanted some kind of reference. Here I am with daddy's big mitt holding me. I have a LOT of growing to do!!

They say I can go home once I consistently drink from a bottle. I am trying, but I get soooooo sleepy!!

Here are my new diggs! I am now able to stay warm on my own, so I have been moved into a crib. I like it, but there are times in this noisy nursery that I miss the quiet sounds in the isolette!

I am trying to stay awake.... really.... YAWN!

No good! I had to give into the yawns! Oh well, all this sleep seems to be working! I am growing and beginning to look like a real person!

More posts when I wake up!

Movin' on up!

Sabrina has been doing great! She is almost back to her birth weight and continues to grow. She looks more like a little person every day! We had a little battle with jaundice but we are now officially out of the spotlights.

Community South is the place to be if you are a baby! Today there were three new additions to the special care nursery. Because of her seniority Sabrina was moved into a "suite" off the main room. She is really into her new digs!

The big news is today we got the green light to try and bottle feed Sabrina. I wish I could say she took to it like a fish to water, but no such luck. She decided she would rather nap than eat! We will be right back at it tomorrow morning.

SHE IS HERE!!!!

Baby Barnes has arrived!!! She was born on June 13, 2008. At 34 weeks, it is a little sooner than expected. After tossing around a few different names we have decided on Sabrina Raine. She was 4 lbs 4 ozs and 18 inches at birth. Baby and mother are doing excellent!! Sabrina has wonderful color and is breathing on her own. We are hoping she can come home in the next couple weeks. (At least that will give us some time to complete the final touches we were planning to complete in the six weeks prior to her scheduled due date. Oh, like, buying a car seat and stroller!) But enough talk, here are some pics of our little girl!

Nursery

UPDATE!!! Pictures of the Nursery!

The nursery is done! (well, almost) The room is painted and the crib and changing table are together. There are just a few minor items we need to complete.

First Post - Purpose of our blog

With the excitement of a new baby coming into our family, Lisa and I wanted to share all the joys with everyone close to us.

With one family in Chicago, the other on the east coast (West Virginia, D.C, South Carolina) and us in Indiana, we thought creating this blog would allow us to easily share updates with our families, no matter where they are located.

So.... jumping right into the 21st Century the Barnes Family blog is now online!!!

We hope you enjoy reading this as much as we will enjoy sharing with you!

Love,
Colin & Lisa
